22 July 2018 Session Narrative.
Recap; Terrin Fortroy took Rasmire’s remains and the group is taking a long rest in ‘Vera’s Paradise’…it resembles the West Village in New York in the 1970s.
The group to a rest in one of the many cistern-like rooms in the sewers under castle Fortroy, and around 3am, Islay exits the Paradise and begins to lose focus, becoming more ethereal. Just before vanishing, it looked like he was trying to say something to get our attention.
In the morning, we continued on upward into another room that had runes in Draconic, Celestial and Giant on every other tile on the floor and murder holes in the ceiling. As water drips from the holes, Bilarro climbs up the wall to look in the holes…there is nothing.
After finding a newer section of wall, and after taking some time to force our way through it, Maxon used the existing water to force the hole in the wall larger so the whole party can make it through.
As we continued up the last remaining section of sewers, the group emerges in the courtyard.
Vera makes a bee-line to the Keep’s main door as the rest of the group notices a weird person, easily, throwing dead bodies on a pyre.
The group went to confront the ‘human male’ and as we got closer, Andholm asked Sprocket if he (pointing to the ‘man’ throwing the bodies) one of yours. Sprocket denies this organic is one of it’s. Then, the ‘man’ turns the top of what looks like a canteen and become Warforged. Sprocket asks, in Warforged, what it is doing and it replied it is looting the bodies for gold. Sprocket…and really the others didn’t have a problem with that. Then, the claws of a feather-winged, furry, dragon-like creature grab the Warforged off the battlement…dropping the canteen.
Sprocket picking up the canteen (figuring it might come in handy in the future) it noticed there is a set of dragonfly-like wings attached to a backpack that clearly is designed for a Warforged. As Sprocket goes to but the wings on, the shoulder straps attach and the waist straps attach and the wings give the wearer (Warforged only) the ability to fly (at 40) hover. The wings, however do not fold up into the backpack, they just fold down (like the rotors of a helicopter…or a dragonfly). The canteen is Belt Of Disguise that is activated by a twist of the top.
After all that, the Gambit can be seen and it appears to be about 8 to 9 hours to the west from the castle…perhaps heading the Starfall Academy.
Maxon sends a message arrow to Elias…and it flew for a bit and then fell into the river below.
The group split up…some went inside the Keep, Raul, Maxon Andholm and Vera, while Bilarro and Sprocket went stayed outside to search further.
Inside the Keep, Raul and Maxon located a mewing child, Derral, inside a wardrobe. Outside, Bilarro found a mirror that had an image of a fiery arm grabbing the Acheron. Is this a Fire Primordial? If this is, this is considered heresy in the eyes of the church of St. Cuthbert.
Raul sent a message arrow to Col. Sanders of the Starfall Academy warning them of the approach of the Gambit and…perhaps the Fire Primordials.
Leaving Derral with the Church of St. Cuthbert, the group loads up on a wagon, being pulled by a team of Warforged (horses, I think – Chad) for the week journey to Lighet.
After an uneventful trip, the group arrives at the more prosperous city in the area and headed to the Church of St. Cuthbert to gather information on these Primordials.
As we (except for Vera) knock on the main doors to the Church, a Cuthbertian Matron, Matron Lache answers the door. After being invited in, and proper etiquette observed, the Matron began telling us of the omen-like vision she has had after Raul brought her up to date on our dealing with the undead. The Matron, describes her omen as an undead lion roaring and the north wall of Lanterum fell. Then…a week later, another omen, this one is one of fire and the Nerull, the god of death.
After that joyful chat with the Matron, to group heads to a local tavern where Vera is already quite drunk and singing very badly just as a massive storm front passes over the city. Then…a tornado forms and, since Sprocket was outside it was pulled into the air and fell to the ground as the others were able to grab onto something so they weren’t pulled outside.
