The Bloody Fight With Carnalsous

10 August 2014 Live Session.

(The fight is commencing.)

(Paul gave instructions that if any of the kids or if the woman is killed, while we are fighting, there is a 10% loss in Xp.)

At the start of the fight, two of the kids fell off Islay’s horse, and one is actively dying.

The party split up to defend the two kids that fell and to make sure the rest of the kids and the woman make it out of the battlefield.

During the course of the battle, Vera, Bilarro, Raul and Sprocket fell. But just before Sprocket deactivated, it hears a war horn.

The horn was from from another Warforged, Sir Cog on a clockwork horse, from House Voltaire.

((And the rest of what happened after the fight was communicated through email. -Chad)

06 July 2014 Session Narrative

06 July 2014 Session Narrative

The Party was able to make it off the ship, even the ones with horses before the ship was defeated by the dragon.

Our crash site was in a sparsely populated forest about 4 miles west from the ancient highway to Balcorran.

We fashioned two sleds out of the wreckage to carry Winson and Billarro.

By the time we reached the Ancient Highway, it was just after sundown.

We figured that we are about 8 days north from Fairvale.

At dusk, five Formian warriors attacked.

((At this time, most of the characters leveled. -Chad))

Just before dawn, there was a commotion coming from the Highway. We noticed there was a group of children running away from something chasing them. Behind the children is a lone woman motioning them to keep running. Further up the Highway there is a knight, perhaps a paladin, using his sword as a walking stick…and then something jumped on top of the paladin and bit his head off.

((This is where the party moved to protect the women and children and then we called it. -Chad))

07 June 2014 Session Narrative.

07 June 2014 Session Narrative.

After the meeting at Franco’s Whore House to have a talk to the whores who impersonated the “nuns” to Lanterum.

We wanted to find out the connection between who hired Sprocket and who hired the others.

Islay asked the Madam about Gertrude, and she knows who he is. He sends his girls out as couriers.

Raul was off having a chat with Casmaratine, the Cuthburtian archivist and Bilarro (Andy’s character…I think) might have a bounty out on his head because Drex is dead and Mortimer is missing.

The party was able to find a name…Rustin Jase. Rustin was last seen at the Blind Mongrel.

As we entered the Blind Mongrel, there was a strong akrid /acid smell in the air as one lone woman was sweeping. The booth partitions and tables were all missing. Tom who runs The Wine Sink stated that Rustin was at the Low Port Customs House. We looked around for a bit and found that there were a large number of scorch marks on the walls and ceiling. We figured that this is where Mortimer exploded.

The party headed off to the Low Port Customs House to book passage to Balcorran. .

We arrived in time to see Rustin book passage to the Western Continent. While in line, Rustin keeps motioning to a group of Cyrilians. As we kept an eye on the Cyrilians and what they plan on doing in line. Nothing really did happen because Rustin wants to meet us at the Cuthbertian Temple in one hour so we can talk about the job Bilarro was supposed to do.

On our way out of the customs house, we overheard a merchant sailors and their Captain, Cpt Snell from the merchant ship Buford talk about a meteor shower about 2-½ weeks out and humans falling out of the sky and burning debris. One of the items found in the debris was some jade with rubies in what looked like a dragon mascot.

The next morning we sent a message arrow to Maxon to return to the Blonde Swan. Winston is still non-responsive. We found out that House Drega does this when they want someone captured. Upon further examination, it looks like Winston was getting ready to fight or cast a spell.

We waited for another two days for our ship to depart for Balcorran.

Everything was quiet…but on the fourth day Sprocket was able to spot a Black Dragon getting ready to attack the ship just as the ship’s klaxons sounded off.

06 April 2014 Session
(Sixth Live Session)

(This narrative was written by Andy and sent to everyone via email. I figured to keep a record of our adventure, I should post it here. -Chad)

At the graveyard. Bilarro was killed by zombies. Winston was knocked out, but stabilized. And Sprocket was disabled after taking out a zombie. Presumably, Numrona regained conciousness after an hour, quaffed some healing potions and then did some very bad things to Winston and Bilarro.

When the overland team arrived in Alsay, they found a crowd around shirtless and crucified Winston and Bilarro, with Sprocket on the side. Bilarro was alive. Both WInston and Bilarro had weird growths on their sides.

After some healing, we relayed the story to the group. Then went to the Inn. Islay drew a pciture of the necromancer based upon our recollections and showed it around. The Innkeeper recognized her as Numrona, a gril who left several years ago to study at Starfall Academy. I’m not sure if the innkeeper remembered that she and Cederic Imiglio (Phil’s new character’s dead brother) were an item, or if we discovered that later when we found old letters between them beneath the floor boards of his bedroom. We also found a picture of something that the Pelorian cleric, who arrived a bit later, described as the Sunrod.

Also, the cleric doesn’t know how to remove Winston and Bilarro’s cysts, but recommended a “doctor” who lives in the Eastern Frontier. While debating about whether to work with the necromancer, kill her, kill billaro and winston removing the cysts and then resurrecting them (my idea, but Tim and Brian seemed to like it a little too much, and I’m not sure if they would have followed through with part two of the plan)… anyway, while we bickered as we tend to do, Winston was suddenly possessed by the necromancer Numrona. She basically said if we came after her, we would never leave. Then she released him. At some point in the conversation, she revealed some info relevant to the main plotline, like Rasmire Fortroy rising to fight the Black Rage in case she were to fall.

Actually now that I’m typing it out, I think that we discovered the letters after this encounter. Because then Raul (Phil) tried to get her attention again to ask her about his brother. She did not reply. So we went to the graveyard so he could visit his brothers grave, which had been disturbed. We decided to return to town and get some supplies, then take the 3-day trip to Numrona’s fmaily farm so that Raul could talk to her about his brother. When we arrived, we discovered that the place had been destroyed by acid (we guessed that it was the parent of the young black dragon that the land team encountered, but have no actual proof of that). Inside we found Numrona’s lifeless body. In her hand was an item that looked like the rod form the picture in Cederic’s house. Raul picked it up and was blasted with negative energy. So Winston used telekinesis to pick it up and put it in a sack that Billarro had. And then Billarro tossed it into the bag of holding. We searched around and found nothing else useful. We did grab some loot off of her. Bilarro took a ring of invisibility and Winston took a ring of protection and her staff. Everybody else split up her remaining healing potions. Nick and Chad should add one potion of cure cirtical wounds to each of their character sheets. Chad, note that healing potions still work on warforged, but heal half the normal damage. Then we left.

We decided to head back to Lanterum, from where, at least Winston and Bilarro, would catch an airship to Balcorran. And then head east to find Doctor Marchinko and have their cysts removed.

On the first night, while Raula nd Trakas were on watch, two skeletons came out of the darkness and attacked. Raul destroyed them with the divine power of Cuthbert before anybody else even woke up. Nick, note that you gained 100xp for this.

On the twelfth night, while BIlarro and Maxon were on watch, a poor soul named Chuck stumbled out of the dark pleading for help. He had been beat to shit and his wife and children had been killed by outriders of House Grast. We took him into the camp, patched him up and gave him food and water. He continued with us back to Lanterum, where Islay bought him a horse and gave him 100gp to get back on his feet.

Also, right before we returned to the city, we encountered a gnomish potion vendor with clockwork stuff. Not much transpired there.

We returned to Lanterum.

At the Camorine Estate we discovered that Steffan had traveled to Balcorran with Prince Elias Archidiem. We are not allowed to stay there. So we got rooms at the Blonde Swan, a mid-level boarding house in the Entertainment District.

I’m not sure which of the next two tihngs happened first. It really doesn’t matter though.

We visited the High Port Skyport and found out that the next airship to Balcorran doesn’t arrive for a week. When it departs next, it will take a week and a day to get there. We purchased tickets for ourselves, some second class (300gp each) and some third class (45sp). You need second class tickets to be able to bring cargo at all, and I think a horse costs 25sp per day. So the guys with good horses bought second class tickets. Bilarro can’t afford anything but third class, so that was an easy decision. Sprocket, Trakas, and Winston will need to decide how they want to travel. We can probably change our tickets later, but there’s a chance that they could sell out as we get closer to departure. First class would cost 7000gp, but we;d only need to buy one ticket and we’d all share a suite and first class passengers don’t have to pay for cargo. But right now that seems out of our price range. But we have a week.

There, we stashed the Rod of Darkness with Winston, Sprocket, and Trakas and went to the Archivist’s Adamantine Tower. We asked to speak with somebody about the rods. A junior archivist came down. When we showed him the letter from Numrona to Cederic that spoke of finding the rod of darkness in Agragard, the City of Tombs, he remarked something like “Agragard, I should’ve figured” or whatever he actually said. And then invited us in. Everyone except for Islay got a funny feeling about that, like he was up to something shady, so we asked to have his superior come out to meet us where we were. Somebody else came down to talk to us. He seemed on the level. We revealed that Numrona was in Alsay, and he thanked us and sent us on our way. The only new info we got out of it was that the Rod of Life (sunrod) and Rod of Darkness are two of a set of six interconnecting rods that form a sphere. The other four rods are attuned to Fire, Water, Air, and Earth.

We left from there. And I think we’re heading back to the inn for now. It’s probably approaching evening by now with all of our running around. Islay expressed an interest in gambling. Bilarro is inclined to join him. I’ve got a week to turn 50gp into 300gp or spend the following week smelling Islay’s horse’s manure while I sleep.

An in-town side quest we’re aware of include that secret sewer passage where we met Trakas that might lead to some underground pit fighting ring.

((Well…at this point there would be a detailed narrative on the events of the last session. But, since things were happening quite rapidly and there is a long email thread relating to what happened last session, so, I will not be entering a narrative. -Chad))

05 Jan 2014 Session Narrative
(Fourth Live Session)

(Fourth Live Session)

05 Jan 2014 Session.

Maxon seems to be getting into some trouble at the prison. Vera skived off while Maxon was alone in the attempt to resurrect Grund in the hope that we could mine enough information out of him about his plans…but a God of Death, Nerull, stopped them.

Both Bilarro and Sprocket are fully healed and mended.

Bilarro gets invited to House Camorine.

When the Party is all in House Camorine, we get word that there will be an Item Broker will be stopping buy at our convenience so that we may sell some of the items the Party has collected. Plus, it would be good to know an individual like this.

After doing some investigating, the sky-ship Hazelton crashed into Hero’s Bay, there was an “investigator” onboard that might know what Grund’s plans are…but we need to get to Low Port. Passing through the Temple District would be a monumental undertaking because of all who came out to mourn the Patriarch’s death.

On our way to Low Port, we travel through the Common District…and we notice there is a large amount of Tetrigani(sp) Gypsies. As we stop by one to see their wares, Pannan gets his coin purse taken. We spotted the two who took Pannan’s coin purse enter an establishment named The Laughing Cockatrice. When we confronted them, they were very willing to give up the purse after an individual named Islay Kentigern, a Synad, instructed them to.

After acquiring Islay, we proceeded to Low Port.

When we arrived at Low Port and some investigation, we found out that the “investigator” that fell from The Hazelton stayed in a brothel, and after arriving, the whores and clients contracted a mysterious illness and died.

Some in the party noticed that there was an air-ship in a holding pattern over the Prison District…and then we were off to find out what was going on.

When we arrived, and did some investigating, we found out that the Air-Ship that is maintaining position over the Prison District belonged to The Watch and that all of the prison guards and the Order of Anchanamach(sp) were replaced by members of The Watch…as told to the group by Commander Jensen.

Since there wasn’t anything going on so the party decided to leave. Upon leaving, the party noticed a cage being hoisted up into the Air-Ship with someone inside that Maxon knows.
After turning up nothing at the prison, the party heads to the City Municipality of Lowport in hopes that we might gain access to the records room…ones we did by bribing the clerk, and found ((at this point…my records are incomplete. -Chad))

((At this point of the campaign, I still don’t know everyone’s character name, so I will be using the player’s name in their place until I have them committed to memory. -Chad))

The group decided that splitting up the party would be a good idea; Chad, Scott and Andy headed off the Temple District. With the death of the Patriarch, the District is still very crowded. With it being crowded the three were pick-pocketed. Scott lost his heavy flail. Andy lost his whet-stone, dagger and silken rope. Chad lost his long sword.

Back at the Camorine House, Stephen heads off to the castle and it would appear that the party has free reign of the house. There is an armory with simple and martial weapons, and and anyone who wanted to replace items that were lost or stolen helped themselves and there is a map with the locations of the prison victims.

When Stephen returned from the castle, he has news of the Mask of Archidiem was stolen and when asked, the city and castle guards couldn’t find leads when they looked.

In the morning, the party headed off to the Brewery.

When we arrived; Scott, Andy and Chad went on the tour and found out that the workers were all wondering why…((It is at this point I believe I stopped taking notes because I was packing up. If anyone remembers what happened, Please feel free to add to this narrative. -Chad))

01 Dec 2013 Session Narrative

(Third Live Session)

01 Dec 2013 Session

After completed what we were sent to do, we decided to return to The Merchant’s Folly.

Upon returning, everyone in Saint Gabriel were sad and despondent because their Patriarch and his acolytes were killed by a shark while on a raft in Shark Harbor celebrating Festivus.

Ash-weeper, as we investigated, is responsible for planning the bombing at Lanterum’s front gate but it was Grund who carried it out.

As the party looks for a way off of Orcalan, we split into two groups. One went to Shark Harbor and found the Foam Reaper…she is registered to the Princess Amara Archidiem (I think. Chad) and touted to be the fastest ship on Orcalan. The other group went to Cargo Bay and met the Halfling deck agent, Korin Gladhand of the Whispering Mellow at dock 19 who was willing to take the group for ~500gp. Before making a decision like that, the two groups returned to Merchant’s Folly and met with Steffan Camorine who had Adam Kexos, a Lanterum Devil-Ball player, suggesting that the party sail with Adam on his private yacht as he returns to Lanterum.

The party agrees.

The trip should take about 6 days.

Noon on the 6th day, an Echinoloth attacks.

During the fight, the party lost Greyson. (See previous narrative for more details. Chad)

At the Customs House in Lanterum, Steffan Camorine heads to the Noble Quarter with Bilarro going to the hospital and Sprocket heading off to the menders.

While in the Noble Quarter, Keroth Maul (I think. Chad) mentioned something about a war and there was an attack by a winged ogre on the city of Balcoran.

Kind of a Session Narrative...

The Death of Greysen Voltire

The blackness of his dream woke him. It was so final, a life snuffed out in front of him. It was a man he had never known, but now felt as if he knew him his whole life. Greysen, that was the name of the man who died. That wasn’t all that Islay Kentigern had seen in his… what was it, a vision? No, this was something different, he had connected minds with this Greysen and his god Heironeus. This connection to another person lead to many questions for Islay, but it also confirmed one thing he knew all along. Gods are nothing but assholes.

The vision of Islay Kentigern

It began with a trip to the heavens, and the viewing of a conversation between Heironeous and one of his generals. He saw through the eyes of the general, but had no control of the vision.

“How goes the recruitment my lord?”

“Slow… and we aren’t getting the greatest candidates. Take this one for instance.” Heironeous waved his hand over the pool to show a young Half-elf, naked save for his shield and sword. The man was defending a line of adventurers behind him from a nasty sea beast. The likes of which Islay had never seen. He could see the mans eyes close and the words of a prayer come to his lips. “This Greysen Voltire, comes from a good family, bastard though he is. Yet he can’t even fight with his clothes on. He has already wasted his gifts that I have given him. Then he has the gaul to ask for my help, in an unwinable situation. He surrounds himself with lesser beings and expects me to help them.”

“But beggers can not be choosers my lord, we need every man we can get.”

“No, not every one. I’m tired of picking the weak and outcast. Time to cull the herd General. Watch this…”

Heironeous’ eyes roll back in his head and he speaks directly to the man, this Greysen, with the authority of a god.

“Strike this foe down, with one strike my son. I will guide your blade to its heart. You will score a mighty victory for Heironeous this day!”

With that Greysen raised his blade and stood proud. Screaming Heironeous’s name in all its glory…

The vision changed, he was now seeing through the eyes of Greysen. He could hear his thoughts, and feel the salty wind upon his naked body. Islay could feel Greysens pride in his god flow through him, all fear dissappating, for his god would guide him to glory. This was the WILL OF HEIRONEOUS!!

Islay could do nothing to stop this man from something so foolish, it seemed inevitable.

Greysen jumped on the railing with cat like grace, the grace of Heironeous flowing through his veins. Dancing down the rail, with a speed and dexterity unmatched by mortal men. Then the perfect jump, sword point right at the heart of beast… Then Islay saw the hand of Heironeous guide the blade, not to the beasts heart, but to the water beside it. Disbelief flooded Greysen as he hit the water… how had he missed? He felt the very presence of his god inside of him. He should not have failed, yet here he was treading water, in danger…

“Why Heironeous, I have done as you told me!!”

A maniacal laughter flooded his mind. “You have done nothing of the sort. You have failed me at every turn, and are a disgrace to the name Heironeous!! It is time to end your stay on this mortal plane. Never again shall I give my power to one as weak as you.”

As the last word was spoke, the flood of power that comes with a gods presence left Greysen. Leaving him vulnerable to the beast in front of him. As Islay watched and felt, a tentacle lashed out, ripping a gash accross Greysen’s chest. A cut so deep you could see his heart. Yet he still lived… clinging to hope.

Islay could hear the cries of Greysens friends, calling to him. A rope splashed near, searching for him. He tried to make Greysen grab hold, but he had no power here… He floated for what seemed like an eternity. Nothing around him save for the waves. Then a splash, and one of Greysens friends grabbed hold of him and started to drag him toward salvation.

“Not so fast, no man defies Heironeous!” Heironeous’s voice called down to Greysen, it was then that Islay saw the sharks. Coming inconcievably fast, with flashing white teeth. He saw two head towards Greysens friend, tearing large chunks off, just as the third shark sank his teeth into Greysen’s throat, ripping it open. Greysen’s life flashed in front of Islay. The pain and the suffering, and the triumph with his new group. A group that he looked forward to working with. Greysen had finally found a home, after all these years. Only to die at the whim of a god.

Then all went dark….

In Other News...
The Wackadoo Stories thus far.

((Tim and Andy have been playing secondary characters strictly online. Their Character’s stories are also taking place in the same continuity as the primary characters. Thus…their actions have an effect on the world as well.))

Bosric Idald

Starting off in the city of Balcorran, Lord Bosric Idald had been going about his duties as head of the city guard. He’d been summoned to the sky-port to assist in and oversee the investigation of several murders there. Several bodies of crew members from the luxury sky-galley, The Hazleton (The same Sky-Galley that Max and Pan rode to its firey doom), had been found poorly hidden amongst some discarded cargo crates in one of the tower’s docking bays.

In the midst of his investigation, Bosric received word from his aunt, Countess Greyana Idald, that he had been selected to represent their house at the upcoming Festivus Tournament hosted by Baron Barnard Deluc and sponsored by Duke Hamilcron Drega.

Leaving the investigation to his underlings, Bosric set out for the Deluc Orchard. Which lay roughly eight weeks to the west of Balcorran, in Deluc County. Bosric elected to make the journey through the wildlands of Idald County, rather than take the much longer…yet safer route along the Ancient Highway. The speed of travel turned out to be offset by the loss of life suffered at the hands of a small pack of marauding Gnolls that Bosric’s retinue encountered on the journey.

Eventually, what remained of his party reached the banks of the Vetrium River, where they boarded a ferry named The Colcast. While crossing the river, Bosric met the ferry’s other passenger of note, the Blackguard Morast Vane. He discovered that, Vane too, would be taking part in the tournament. He also determined that the rumors of Vane being a savage madman, bent on destruction, were also blown vastly out of proportion. He also learned of a strange promise made to the Blackguard by none other than Duke Drega himself. In the promise, Drega stated that if Vane took part in and won The Joust, he would receive the title of Knight as an award in addition to the champion’s purse.

Bosric’s party, and Vane’s retinue made the rest of the journey to the Deluc Orchard together. Their simultaneous arrival caused something of a stir among the gathered nobility there. Bosric then went about getting acquainted with the other noble competitors, and decided the best competition for him to take part in was The Melee.

Thus began a series of misfortunes for Lord Bosric.

First, his House Sigil Banner was vandalized. Later his charger, Thistlewind was purposely envenomed by an Axionian Mountain Viper. Quite certain the same culprit was responsible for both actions, Bosric chose to confront Lord Ivard Kazzmeritine, of the Kingdom of Axion.

To further muddle Lord Bosric’s affairs, Morast Vane made an offer of an exchange. He would provide Bosric with helpful information that may give him the edge over his competition in the Melee. In return, he asked that Bosric stand as witness should Vane win the Joust after all, and claim his knighthood.

Bosric agreed.

The next day brought even more debacles for Bosric. Having been provided with the very letter Duke Drega wrote to Vane. Bosric intended to go about verifying its authenticity. Taking the letter to the Duke’s daughter, Baroness Deluc, he showed it to her and asked if she thought it to be legitimate. She responded by dismissing it, and ripping it in half. Following that, Duke Drega himself chastised the lowly lord. Warning him to keep out of the affairs of his betters.

After a slightly unorthodox participation in the tournament’s opening ceremonies, Bosric decided to make time investigating the festival taking place in accompaniment to the competitions. While there, a magic message-arrow landed near him, bearing a message from his mother. The message brought dire news that the city of Balcorran had been attacked by a powerful creature that resembled something akin to an Ogre. Sadly, Bosric’s father fell in the attack.
